Barefoot Goes Legit at Auburn University Vet School

By

Pete and Ivy Ramey are currently spending one week every month at Auburn University’s Vet School trimming hooves for Doctor Deborah Taylor, DVM, MS, DACVIM who is recording and studying the results of natural hoof care on chronic laminitis cases. The study has consistently shown rotation reversal, increased sole thickness, and profound improvement in levels of soundness. The goal of the study is to publish the data as a scientific paper which would be the first time a successful method of reversing chronic laminitis has ever been published as a scientific paper. Please, please, please, go to this link and spend a few minutes. And pass the link around. This could be huge for horses everywhere because it’s the first vet school in the U.S. to not only embrace this so-called “new-fangled” way of making horses healthier, but to prove the value. And prove the genetic ability of every horse to heal himself and grow a sound hoof that has no need for a metal shoe. The link:

Also if you live anywhere near Auburn, Alabama and have a laminitic horse you would like to add to the study (and can haul to the University) follow the instructions at the above link.

Way to go Pete and Ivy and Dr. Taylor!! Three huge cheers for you guys!

My two horses have been barefoot for almost 2 yrs now, and they have incredible hooves. my TW had good hooves to begin with. My paso fino had great hooves, having never been shod prior to getting her, but with a regular farriers trim about 4 times, they took a horse who could run over rocks, to almost crippled to try to cross rocks. Its taken me almost a year to get her back to solid/non tender feet, of course I subscribe to right diet, 24/7 turnout etc, which is hard when you board. But care and feed and trim by my aanhcp practioner/eddie drabek is not optional for my horses! i sread the word to anyone who will listen, and i wish everyone would!
