From the new Cesar’s Way Magazine
Oscar’s Issue
Who’s Hollywood’s Top Dog?
Needless to say when the Oscars are handed out this weekend there will be no prize for a four-legged star.
In fact, when they held the first Academy Awards in 1929 Rin Tin Tin got more votes than any human actors…but the Academy decided it would be inappropriate to give an Oscar to a non-human.
So at Cesar’s Way Magazine we decided it was time to redress the balance and in the new issue which goes on sale this week we’re presenting a Hall of Fame of the 50 best dogs in movies and TV. We’re sure you’ll agree on some and not on others so we invite you to visit our new Facebook page and add your comments! On Sunday evening we’ll pick the ten best comments and they’ll win a free subscription to Cesar’s Way magazine.
So, quick drum roll, here is the Cesar’s Way magazine’s top ten.
1) Lassie – who went from movies to having one of the longest running drama shows on network TV.
2) Benji. We asked Steven Spielberg his favorite movie dog and he answered immediately: Benji! The original Benji was a shelter dog who had been adopted from Burbank Animal Shelter! Benji is Number two on our list!
3) Rin Tin Tin.
4) Eddie from Frasier
5) Marley
6) Buddy from Air Bud
7) Scooby Doo
8) Beethoven
9) Toto – from the Wizard of Oz
10) Chloe from Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Joe’s comments:
Yay! So Steven Spielberg joins Alfred Hitchcock and Oprah in naming Benji their favorite onscreen dog! She’s mine too. But after this article I’ve definitely gotten the feeling that Spielberg is now Benji’s favorite director… which upsets me more than a little :)
