Order Personally Inscribed Copies of Horses & Stress – $9.95
Joe and Kathleen Camp have eight horses: a rescued American Saddlebred, three mustangs straight out of the wild, two Arabians, a paint and a quarter horse. And at their farm there is no colic, no laminitis, no strangles, no insulin resistance, no ulcers, no founder, no navicular issues, no cribbing, pawing, kicking, weaving, pacing, or biting.
How did they accomplish all this?
By eliminating stress. They banished it. Sent it packing. And you can too.

Joe Camp showed us the heart and soul of a dog when he created the canine superstar Benji. And he lured us into the soul of a horse in his engaging, emotional, and often humorous best seller The Soul of a Horse: Life Lessons from the Herd, now in its 11th printing, a book that set traditional thinking about horses on its ear while changing the lives of horses and people all across the planet. Camp now deftly lures us back into the heart and soul of a horse in his new and powerful Horses & Stress – Eliminating the Root Cause of Most Health, Hoof and Behavior Problems.
“This is an unsolicited review for an outstanding book. And I have to admit, I think this small, simple little book, Horses & Stress – Eliminating the Root Cause of Most Health, Hoof and Behavior Problems, is one of my all time favorites.
This is the PERFECT book to give as a gift or recommend to anyone who is just getting interested in caring for their horses in an improved way. Or really it’s the perfect book for every horse owner! What I love about this book is that it gets to the real heart of the matter and Joe is so dang enjoyable to read. This isn’t just about barefoot, or diet, or lifestyle. It is about developing a level of caring for your horse where he is not a vehicle, but a friend and partner, and you want to provide him with the lifestyle that is conducive to his health (not just one that is convenient for your life!)
Joe’s simple way of explaining why and how things work will appeal to any horse owner with common sense. He provides the rational explanations behind natural horse care, with the most important reason being that caring for our horses naturally reduces their stress—which fixes just about every domestic equine problem that has ever existed.” — Yvonne Welz, Editor – The Horse’s Hoof
“Joe Camp is a natural when it comes to understanding how animals tick and a genius at telling us their story.” – Monty Roberts, Author of NYT Best Seller The Man Who Listens to Horses
“One cannot help but be touched by Camp’s love and sympathy for animals and by his eloquence on the subject.”
Michael Korda – The Washington Post
“Joe Camp is a gifted storyteller and the results are magical.” Rick Lamb, Author and TV/Radio Host of The Horse Show
“Joe Camp is a master storyteller.”
The New York Times

Joe never intended to write a book, never mind eleven. He and Kathleen were just trying to figure out how to keep and care for a small group of horses that had somehow landed quite unexpectedly in their front yard. They were two complete neophytes who, a few short months before, didn’t have a horse or a clue. So they were asking a lot of questions, and getting a lot of answers that didn’t seem to make any sense. After stumbling through mistake after mistake, digging through an enormous amount of research, and spending a great deal of time with their little herd they discovered that either they were stark raving nuts or there was something very wrong in this world of horses. That’s where The Soul of a Horse began. Thankfully for thousands of happier healthier horses across the planet it turned out that they weren’t nuts. At least not in the clinical sense. And it was too late for them to turn back.

The story of our journey with horses (to date) is told in the two books that follow: the national best seller The Soul of a Horse – Life Lessons from the Herd and its sequel Born Wild – The Soul of a Horse.
And what a story it is as two novices without a clue stumble and bumble their way through the learning process so that hopefully you won’t have to. If you haven’t read both of these books already please do because with that reading, I believe, will come not just the knowledge of discovery but the passion and the excitement to cause you to commit to your journey with horses, to do for the horse without waiver so that your relationship and experience will be with loving, happy and healthy horses who are willing partners and who never stop trying for you. Horses like ours.
