When we decided to move from the high desert of southern California to middle Tennessee we were told over and over again that our horses couldn’t stay out 24/7 on the lush rich grasses they would encounter. Legend had nicknamed our new home “Founder Valley”. Especially when applied to the Spring when new grasses was emerging.
This made no sense to us. Horses in the wild encounter gorgeous meadows and free choice foraging with no negative results whatsoever. So as we had done when horses first entered our lives, we hit the research trail and began digging out the actual facts, not the legends. Not the hearsay.
