Katie Pontone and her National Champion
Katie took her pony, Wicked, barefoot after reading The Soul of a Horse and she never looked back. Wicked is blind in one eye but is now the 2012 National Pony Jumper Champion because she managed the only round without fault of the top pony jumpers in the country at the national finals and was the only barefoot one of all the pony jumpers! Katie says, “Thanks to Joe Camp and to our trimmer Cindy Ross. I can always count on Wicked’s perfect hooves to turn tighter, gallop faster, and jump cleaner than my shod competitors. She is not only ranked number one in the United States, USEF National Pony Jumper Championships, but is the 2012 USEF National Horse of the Year and the USEF Zone 2 Horse of the Year for the Pony Jumpers. She is the number one pony jumper in the North American League and with our recent victory at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show for the 2012 North American League National Finals Wicked earned the title of the 2012 National Pony Jumper Champion.” Read Katie’s and Wicked’s amazing story.

Melissa and Her Champion Mare Daisy
From Melissa in upstate New York: I just wanted to thank you so much for stepping out and writing your Soul of a Horse books. I had hoof issues for years with my mare. Then your book was dropped into my hands… definitely an orchestration of God’s marvelous plan; it was such a blessing! Long story short, she hasn’t had shoes on since 2009. I found a natural trimmer who did such an awesome job with her hooves that I went to school this past June to study natural barefoot methods. I’m 17 and now working on my own natural trimming certification and have a passion for natural horse feet, as they are such an excellent display of the Master’s perfect craftsmanship. I show Daisy English and Western, jumping and barrel racing, and she has never taken a lame step. We won Overall Senior High Point for most points collected over four consecutive days. Shoes, blankets, and stalls are things of the past. I’m not sure what I’d be doing right now if I hadn’t read your books! So thank you . . . you’ve really changed my and my mare’s lives.

The story of our journey with horses (to date) is told in the two books that follow: the national best seller The Soul of a Horse – Life Lessons from the Herd and its sequel Born Wild – The Soul of a Horse.
And what a story it is as two novices without a clue stumble and bumble their way through the learning process so that hopefully you won’t have to. If you haven’t read both of these books already please do because with that reading, I believe, will come not just the knowledge of discovery but the passion and the excitement to cause you to commit to your journey with horses, to do for the horse without waiver so that your relationship and experience will be with loving, happy and healthy horses who are willing partners and who never stop trying for you. Horses like ours.
